Minister’s Wives Retreat

May 19th through 21st, 2017

Come be a part of the Ministers’ Wives Retreat. This retreat, at the beautiful Jenness Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is a highlight weekend for ministers’ wives from throughout California. Women come to seek friendships with other ministers’ wives, find support through prayer partners, share ideas for ministry and be pampered by the Jenness Park staff. You will leave encouraged and ready for the joys and challenges of ministry. Whether you come with a group or by yourself, be assured that you will be welcomed and encouraged. Whether you come with a group or not knowing anyone; be assured that you will be welcomed and encouraged. The retreat is open to any woman whose husband is a vocational minister, including wives and widows or full-time, part-time, or retired ministerial church staff (e.g., associate pastors, music, youth or education ministers), vocational chaplains, college/seminary students or faculty/staff and denominational staff.
The retreat has elements that will appeal to any personality or need:

  • inspiring worship
  • helpful breakout seminars
  • powerful speakers and leaders
  • energizing fellowship
  • fun recreational opportunities
  • interesting people
  • the best camp food anywhere
  • down time, if you choose (lots of down time!)
  • Theme – Ending the Masquerade

The theme verse for the 2017 Ministers’ Wives Retreat is Luke 12:2b: “You can’t hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known” because we all wear masks sometimes, especially in a ministry family. The Ministers’ Wives Retreat is a weekend where you can lay aside your mask and just be who God designed you to be. No one is there to judge you, grade you or ask you to help with anything. It is a time for you to relax, learn, share, rest, devote or do whatever it is you need to do to recharge your life and reconnect with God.

Theme Verse – Luke 12:2(b) “You can’t hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known.”

    Keynote Speaker – Tammy Brown

Tammy Brown, whose husband is the founding pastor of Sandals Church in Riverside, has helped lead Sandals from a college worship service with a few dozen students to a multi-campus ministry that now reaches more than 7,000.

    Worship Leader – Hilary Varner

Hilary Varner is one of the worship leaders for Valley Baptist Church of Bakersfield California. She leads women in worship weekly at a Bible study of 100 plus women, along with various other women’s events at Valley Baptist. One of her greatest joys in life is to lead and take part of women worshiping the Lord. She is humbled, honored and looking forward to worshiping at the Ministers’ Wives Retreat.
