" Institute for Principle Studies president Mike Winther holds a degree in political science from the University of Idaho. Soon after graduating, he worked as a professional campaign consultant in Washington and California. He is the founder of the Institute for Principle Studies, a Christian think-tank dedicated to researching and teaching foundational principles of government, economics, and history. Mike is a lifelong student of history and government. He feels a burden to teach the important principles of government and economics—principles that were known by many of our founding fathers, but unfortunately were forgotten a generation later. He leads tours of historical places and events on the East Coast where he teaches about the real foundations of America. He has also developed a 10-week course for adults on American government and economics, which he teaches throughout Northern California. Over 4,000 people have gone through this 10-week class. A frequent speaker at conferences and conventions, Mike is also a member of the Mackinac Center Board of Scholars. Mike and his wife Mary are parents of three children, and together they coach the Modesto Debate Club, which trains high school students in logic, research, public speaking, and worldview.
**Mackinac is pronounced: Mack-in-aw
